WOOD BASED BOARDS
Sternwood is a niche upgrader of melamine faced boards including some of the latest international design trends. Sternwood distributes and exports a variety of quality wood based panels and engineered wood boards which include particleboard, MDF, hardboard, plywood and OSB. Sternwood has extensive capabilities for cutting to size and edging in Port Elizabeth.

Sternwood is well equipped with a quality, state of the art and continuous automatic press line capable of producing the highest quality melamine face particleboard and MDF. The press size is 2765mm x 1850mm, and hard chrome caul plates add a seamless and perfect emboss to the melamine surface. Embosses are available in a soft textured finish, an alpine wood grain finish and a woodline finish.
Our normal range of wood based panels are always available ex stock. A specialized range of products are available with various lead times depending on volumes required.
All boards used are either sourced locally or imported depending on specification required. E1 (European standard referring to low or nil formaldehyde emission) boards are available by special request
PRESSFORM PANELS
Sternwood manufactures quality high definition pressform panels using the latest European technology. Sternwood was one of the first manufacturers of pressform panels in Southern Africa and has perfected the pressroom panel manufacture process by pressing under the correct temperature and pressure throughout the pressing process ensuring an excellent product.

Sternwood manufactures a wide range of 3D pressform panels. Our designs meet interior designer’s needs with the latest fashion trends and quality standards catered for. Our standard range of foils are manufactured by the highest quality manufacturers in Europe, ensuring a quality, long lasting finished product.
Matching flat panels in single faced PVC (with a white melamine backer) or double faced PVC, normally used as seen (visible) ends in kitchen and household cabinetry, can be manufactured. Reduced costs are obtained by using a particleboard substrate.
MACHINED BOARD COMPONENTS
Sternwood manufactures various top quality, high volume components out of wood based panels using the latest European equipment. Machined Board customer sectors include automotive components, storage components, shop fitting, and household goods amongst others. Precision machining is paramount while ensuring costs are kept under control.

Sternwood is well equipped to machine various quality wood based panel components in high volumes from sizes of 100mm x 100mm to 1200mm x 2750mm using the latest European CNC equipment. Our state of the art CNC machinery allows accurate manufacturing in large quantities of repetitive items.
Our beam saws are capable of cutting multiple sheets of wood base panels, accurately and without chipping.
